Due to the increase in the atmospheric pressure contrasts between the Southeast Pacific high and the low over Australia and the associated strengthening of the Humboldt Current, the El Niño phenomenon is finally coming to an end, and with it, albeit with a certain delay, also the drought in the Northeast Brazil.

Tinajones (Peru) – irrigation
Due to their north-south course, the Andes form a distinctive climatic divide south of the equator. In the tropical area, a dry western roof is opposed to a moist eastern roof with all effects on the character of the landscape; in the extra-tropical Andes it is the other way round. In Peru, this can be seen in an extraordinary contrast between the pacific canopy with its desert-like characteristics in the coastal area (Costa) and the tropical mountain and lowland forests on the eastern flank of the Andes (Montaña / Selva). The inner mountain areas (sierra) assume a mediating position. This is additionally influenced by the change with the height and the effects of windward-leeward effects.

The city of Chiclayo (650,000 residents) is located on the Peruvian Pacific coast around 600 kilometers north of Lima. It is the center of an intensively agriculturally used irrigation area in the middle of the coastal desert, which at this point forms a strip around 70 kilometers wide.
