Vanuatu climate
All Vanuatu islands have a typical South Sea climate all year round: consistently warm and always humid. Both temperatures and rainfall decrease from the northern to the southern archipelagos.

Despite the location in the tropics, two seasons can be distinguished: a cooler and drier one and a warmer and more humid one.

The cool and dry season lasts from May to October. The lowest average temperature is measured from July to September. Then it is 22 ° C with a maximum of 25 ° C during the day and around 18 ° C at night. The sometimes quite stiff south-east trade winds with cooling winds from the sea ensure that the sultriness is reduced. However, it does not get completely dry even in this drier phase. Even in August, rain still comes down from the sky for 13 days.

Between November and April it gets really hot, very humid and very humid. The peak value is measured in February with an average of 29 ° C. Then most of the annual precipitation falls in the form of short, heavy showers, which is 3,800 – 4,000 mm in the north and 2,200 mm in the south. In March there were 21 days of rain. Between January and March to every two to three years hurricanes also visit Vanuatu. The storms become stronger the later they occur during a season.

Best travel time for Vanuatu
The best time to travel to Vanuatu is clearly during our summer. From May / June to September the heat is not that strong. The Passat brings a bit of coolness with it, reduces the humidity and ensures less precipitation.

The winter months from December to April are the time of tropical cyclones. But it is not only because of this danger that vacationers should avoid Vanuatu during these months. Because the thermometer then rises very high, it rains a lot and for Europeans it is often unbearably humid – not necessarily the optimal conditions for a dream vacation.
